What is the $250 Power Saving Bonus?

The $250 Power Saving Bonus is a one-off payment that provides direct support to Victorian households experiencing power bill stress due to the constant rising of living costs. Good Shepherd are here to help you apply!

Am I eligible?

To be eligible for the power saving bonus, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be a Victorian residential energy consumer
  • Be the account holder

*Only one payment is available per household.

What do I need for the application process?

Before you call Good Shepherd on 1300 026 500 there are a few things you need to have available to complete your application:

  • Your recent household electricity bill from your retailer
  • Your ‘NMI number (located on your bill typically a 10 or 11 digit number)
  • A copy of further supporting documentation. Such as, a recent utility bill (e.g. gas or water), Rates Notice, Driver’s License, or a Valid Centrelink Card

Be sure to keep a copy of your Power Saving Bonus application reference number as you may need this information for further communication regarding your application.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

When can eligible households apply?

A new Power Saving Bonus program round will commence on 24 March 2023. Victorian households will be able to receive a new $250 payment, including any households that received a payment through the current round. You can apply for the new $250 payment by returning to the website from 24 March 2023.

How many people per household can apply?

Only one payment is available to each household until 23 March 2023. A new Power Saving Bonus program round will commence on 24 March 2023. You can apply for the new $250 payment by returning to the website from 24 March 2023.

How long does it take to receive the Power Saving Bonus?

If you meet the eligibility and documentation requirements, you should receive your $250 Power Saving Bonus payment via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) within two to three weeks of submission. If you request payment via cheque, within six weeks.

I received the $50 and or/ $250 Power Saving Bonus for concession recipients, can I apply for the new $250 Power Saving Bonus?

Yes, if you received the $50 Power Saving Bonus and/or the $250 Power Saving Bonus for concession recipients and meet the eligibility requirements of the new $250 Bonus, then your household can apply for the $250 payment.
