Our Chapel has transformed over time to become a cherished community venue where people can gather, share, learn, enjoy and reflect. 

It is a vibrant space well known for its historical significance and as a wonderful backdrop for special events, rich with character and ambience.

  • Mass is celebrated at the Chapel on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 930-10am. Everyone Welcome.
  • Our history centre is currently closed as it undergoes an update. We look forward to welcoming you back to the history centre soon. Stay tuned!
  • The Chapel is available to hire for private events and ceremonies.
  • Located in the historic Abbotsford Convent precinct, the Chapel is surrounded by heritage listed buildings, landscaped gardens, a summer house and views of the Yarra River.

The Chapel is located at St Heliers Street, Abbotsford, next to the Abbotsford Convent.

The Chapel History Centre

The Chapel History Centre displays the history of the Good Shepherd Sisters, the Abbotsford Convent and the Chapel. The multimedia display at the History Centre provides an engaging and interactive way to learn about a slice of Melbourne’s history. Our friendly volunteers can answer your questions or take you on a tour of the Chapel. Tours are by appointment only. To book a tour call 03 9417 2909.

The Chapel Gallery

Beneath the church building, The Chapel Gallery is a unique venue for smaller groups. This contemporary, multi-purpose space is suitable for intimate activities, ranging from spiritual gatherings and meditation groups to art exhibitions. Catering facilities are also available.
