LaunchME 2020 graduates

2020 was an extremely challenging year for most people. Despite the difficulties, Good Shepherd ensured a year of microenterprise coaching for nine extraordinary and talented people through it’s LaunchME program.

LaunchME is a free initiative created to help people develop, finance and launch their own microenterprise. This program offers a full year of personalised coaching, based on each participant’s interests and career goals. This includes mentoring, business planning, building skills, networking and more. On top of this, it also includes a No Interest Loan to help participants achieve their goals.

Over the coming weeks we will share stories of the amazing graduates that overcame the challenges of last year. For now let’s meet four who recently graduated.

Asmaa - Founder of Youtube Channel “Bliifee”

Asmaa Mannasaheb, the founder of the Youtube channel “Bliifee”, has just reached over a million views on her channel. She provides life hacks to Muslim women relocated to a Western country with a positive and aware approach. Through her channel, she builds understanding of diversity and captures the melting pot of Australia. Good Shepherd enabled Asmaa to register her business name, connected her with its Social Media Partner, and increase her business, marketing and social media skills. Asmaa recently won the Young Leader of the Year Award for the City of Dandenong.

Muk Lan Soo - Fundraising for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre

Another star 2020 graduate was Muk Lan Soo. Strongly affected by the pandemic, she had to face a significant pivot on her career path. Her business, already sponsored by LaunchME, was as a specialised travel agency that connected Malaysia (her country of origin) and Australia (Victoria, in particular). Despite the difficulties, with her positive attitude and the support of Good Shepherd, which she says was essential, she has gained self-confidence in her abilities and the future. She recently received a scholarship to attend the National Fundraising Conference and has a full-time job at the Asylum Seeker Resource Center (ASRC). Although tourism is her dream, she managed to achieve significant results in her new employment.

Luke Kennedy - Founder of Nekrowolf Studios

Our next graduate, Luke Kennedy, founded a recording studio based in his house four years ago to help musicians record their tracks. He wanted to take the next step and turn it into a proper business. With the help of LaunchME he created business cards, a website, signage and promotional material. He has now created a steady base of loyal clients and a strong following on social media.

Christine Angua - Founder of African Beauty Clothes

Last but not least, the incredibly talented Christine Angua founded a fashion brand called “African Beauty Clothes”. Thanks to Good Shepherd she gained more confidence speaking English and she increased her social and technological skills. She is due to receive her first shipment of colourful African dresses from Uganda soon.

We wish all of our graduates the best of luck for their bright futures and thank them for the incredible passion and dedication during 2020.
