Overview

• $68,657 + super, salary packaging (up to $17,000 tax free) & gifted leave
• 1 x Full Time, 12 Month Maximum Term Contract from August 2023 – August 2024
• Based in Waranara School, Marrickville (NSW)

The Learning Support Assistant provides day-to-day learning support to the school’s students as well as one on one literacy and numeracy intervention to their educational needs to achieve high school qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Learning support students
• Implementing YARC testing
• Working closely with the Deputy principal and regularly liaising with the teaching and wellbeing staff at Waranara School.
• Working in an integrated way with other workers at Good Shepherd, community stakeholders and partners to ensure the individual needs of students are met.

Qualifications and Experience

• Hold qualifications in teaching assistant, learning support or education
• Have demonstrated knowledge of relevant Child Protection policy and practice frameworks and legislation
• Has effective interpersonal, time management, communication and negotiation skills
• Have demonstrated experience in preparing written reports, maintaining records, including case notes and reporting
• Has experience in literacy and numeracy intervention
• Has an understanding of learning disabilities and how to support students
• Evidence of full Covid-19 vaccination, or medical exemption
• A satisfactory Police Check
• A current Employee Working with Children’s Check (WWCC)
